How to Elope on a Budget in the Adirondack Mountains

As Adventure Elopement photographers, we are here to encourage you to follow your heart and soul in this life. If you want to get married, but you want to skip the big wedding, you can elope! If you're considering an elopement but don't quite know where to get started, we're here to help.

Eloping has been widely known for, "going to the courthouse and getting hitched." Now, Adventure Elopement Photographers offer packages to fit anyone's style of elopement day. For instance, we offer packages from 2 hours-6 hours.

If you're on a strict financial plan, and want to have an Adirondack Elopement, we would love to help you organize & document your whole elopement, and keep it budget friendly.

Here's some advise on how to elope in the Adirondack Mountains on a budget:

  • Keep it local to your home state.

  • Keep it simple.

  • Keep your guest list small.

  • Ditch the venue. I said it, and I'll say it again. DITCH THE VENUE! Get married on a mountain top, by a lake or a waterfall, out in a great big field filled with wildflowers everywhere. You don't need a venue if you aren't hosting 100 people.

  • Avoid eating out at a restaurant with groups of people. This can get costly, quickly!

  • Order a pizza, get some tacos, call & place an order some burgers... get some take out and have a picnic! (Likely will require a special events permit for greater than 10 people.)

  • Gals, consider buying your dress online from credible stores like Etsy, Amazon, Lulus, Shein, Windsor, the list goes on...

  • Guys, you don't need a suit. Wear nice pants or even shorts, a button down, a tie or bowtie, suspenders... again, the list really does go on!

  • Book a reasonably priced hotel or AirBnB.

  • Get your flowers & cake, or any pastry, from local grocery stores like Market 32, Hannaford or Wegmans. (Shout out to Al at Market 32 in Saratoga Springs for helping me put together the beautiful bouquet for this session!)

  • Consider doing your own hair and makeup if you're good at that sort of thing!

  • Book your photographer Monday-Friday to obtain lower rates. Also consider the timeline that fits you best. 4 hours is plenty of time to cover a hike to a summit, wedding ceremony, portraits, first dances, and you just hanging out doing whatever you want on your wedding day.

  • Weekday elopements are also a perk to having less people around during your wedding ceremony!
